What is Electric Strike Door Access?

An electric strike is a type of door frame access control mechanism. It takes the place of the fixed strike faceplate that is commonly used with latches (also known as a keeper). It generally presents a ramped or beveled surface to the locking latch, similar to a fixed strike plate, allowing the door to close and latch as a fixed strike would. Electric strikes replace a standard door strike and is connected to a power supply. When an electric strike is activated, it releases the latch, unlocking the door.
